Ship Design :

• Research Ship Design Tech to unlock the design panel.
• Access the design panel from the shipyard panel or hot key [D].
• The standard designs are sufficient to conduct all aspects of your realm.
• Ship design is an optional game within the game, for those who enjoy fiddling with numbers.
• At some point there will be a more graphical interface for wider audience appeal.
• Not all the standard designs are available for a new realm, these must be found :
  • Battleship
  • Heavy Carrier
  • Smuggler type freighter
  • Salvager
  • Recon ship
• Designs that have been built or traded to other realms may not be edited.
  Clone the design to make a new version.
• Captured ships of foreign design may not be built until they have been reverse engineered.
• Design names may be seen by other realms though intel or boarding but version text is not.

Major Ship Design Considerations :

Hull Space vs Cost :

• Many components are available in various sizes.
• Usually the larger size requires a greater percent of hull space vs its capability.
• This means space can be saved by using the smaller versions.
• The downside is that resource costs, build time and support cost will rise.
